Scarlett, a sultry-voiced singer, and tenor saxophonist/clarinetist, Dr. Bob Finney, are joined by a trio of AFM professional musicians on piano, bass, and drums to bring you jazz and pop standards from The Great American Songbook.  They've performed at some of the area's swankiest venues that include the Sky Room, the Madison Restaurant, DaVinci Ristorante, and the Balboa Bay Club, as well as Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada.  This is quality entertainment for your dancing and listening pleasure.

Wow!  What a terrific concert you gave last Thursday!  I am so glad I was able to attend as a spectator/listener (instead of working), so that I could fully appreciate the wonderful rhythms and songs without any distractions.  Your choice of music was great, Scarlett's voice was lovely, the instrumentals were terrific, and I appreciated the historical context that you provided for the songs.  Please thank your fellow musicians.

We had a tremendous audience that evening, and it is clear that our 364 guests also enjoyed the concert...We all felt that the concert was great, the audience was wonderful, and the evening was perfect!  We hope we can arrange for you to come back again.

Think back to those thrilling days of yesteryear when music was theater lounges, ballrooms, and dinner clubs filled with the sounds of the times and the emotion therein.  If you can't relive or make contact with those nostalgic latitudes, Scarlett and the Dr. Bob Jazz Combo will turn back the clock for you.  With their new release "Scarlett Fever" Ms. Scarlett Productions rekindles those days, rejuvenating any opportunity of recall, with sultry tones and expressive feel.  The sounds are sweltering with crisp resonance and sensual libretto allowing these standards of the 30's, 40's, and 50's to reach new levels of engaging audio.

On "Scarlett Fever" Dr. Bob formulates magic with his tenor sax, John Proulx sits back on his ivory keys, Bruce Atkinson embraces the bass, and John Ferraro manipulates the skins to round out this collection of knowledgeable veterans.  However, Ms Scarlett is the focal point of this wonderfully appealing and reflective showcase.

Standouts on this disc are "St. Louis Blues," "Georgia Rose," and "Night and Day."  Each in their own ways grasps a hold of Ms. Scarlett's signature with ease.  "St. Louis Blues" has that old nightclub appeal to it, offering a great listen for vocals of that time period.  Ms. Scarlett's delivery is extremely suitable having that sultry tone and mysterious ambiance embracing the cut.  "Night and Day" shows off the poignant impact of Ms. Scarlett's range.  The delivery and effect driven by her voice does wonders for this classic in a way totally different than what we may be used too, a truly pleasurable push-n-play piece.

Ms. Scarlett as good as she is can go further in her talent.  One can hope that she explores her talent deeper.  For I believe that this artist truly has more to give.  This is the only critique I have to offer.  This disc is good and one can image how good her next submission may be as she explores the next level of her talent.  If you can see her live, please do not hesitate to go.

For those who prefer the vocals that stimulate memories and compel emotion, this disc is yours to enjoy for hours on end.  Many talents have attempted and failed to mirror standards.  Ms. Scarlett and the Dr. Bob Jazz Combo have, with "Scarlett Fever," accomplished that goal.  This is a very cool and sultry time tunnel trip through some of the vocal standards that have been defined as timeless.

A Marriage made in "Birdland" (following is an excerpt from the original article)

The passion the Finneys share for each other is reflected in the innovative music they create.  Along with performing at venues in the Los Angeles area, the couple recently released "Scarlett Fever," a CD of jazz standards.  The project features tunes such as "Caravan," "Misty," "Fly Me To The Moon," "Night and Day," and "Honeysuckle Rose."  Bob, who holds a master's degree in speech communications from Ohio State University, said he and Scarlett were determined to bring the old songs to life in a unique way.  To help them achieve their goal, the couple hired top musicians who were up to the challenge of creating something new and interesting.

The group sounds like something you might encounter at a hotel bar--and be delighted that you came in for dinner and discovered the pleasant husband-and-wife team of tenor saxophonist Bob and Scarlett Finney.  The couple run through 14 jazz and pop standards from the 1920s through the 1950s.  These two and their accompanying musicians are talented, particularly Scarlett, whose smoke-laden voice sounds like it was meant to sing these songs.  If new arrangements of such numbers as "Fever," "St. Louis Blues," and "Fly Me To The Moon" are your thing, then this disc is definitely worth a listen.
